Cleese Has Had Enough

John Cleese has "no intention" of dropping a scene from Monty Python's Life of Brian for the film's stage adaptation, which some call "transphobic".

In the scene, Eric Idle's character desires to be known as 'Loretta' and have babies. John Cleese's character dismisses the idea as "ridiculous".

During a recent read-through in New York, the anti-woke and anti-cancel culture crusader revealed that "all" the play's actors told him the scene should get in the bin.

"At the end, I asked the American actors, 'What do you think?' They said, 'We love the script, but you can't do that stuff about Loretta nowadays'," recalled the 83-year-old.

"These were absolutely top-class Broadway performers and they were adamant that we would not get away with doing the scene in New York.

"Producers tend to be scaredy-cats. They don’t remember that the protests in New York when Brian was released meant we never needed to do publicity".

John, who played the much-maligned 'R' in The World Is Not Enough and the CGI-ridden Die Another Day, plans to bring the show to London next year.
