(Bond 26) Don't believe the hype — Idris Elba
With more twists and turns than a Michael Connelly detective novel, the "Idris Elba will be the next James Bond" story has finally ended. Or is it another twist...?
Here at FBFO, we doubt that. While some of us think Idris Elba would make a great Bond, there is one thing that goes against him: his age. He's 45 now, and Daniel Craig's final outing has not even started shooting yet.
Over on social media, Idris seemed to enjoy all the hype and winding up hardened Bond fans. He tweeted "My name's Elba, Idris Elba" knowing it would stir up a hornets' nest of lovers and haters. The main argument was that Bond was Scottish with a Swiss mother, so he couldn't possibly be black.
After a day of playing, Idris tweeted "Don't believe the hype". Now, the DJ could simply have been singing the Public Enemy song, or he could have been saying: "Really, don't believe the hype".
