Naomie's #MeToo moment
Sexual assault survivor and activist Tarana Burke originally coined the phrase 'Me Too' on Myspace in 2006. Over a decade later, in 2017, #MeToo became a viral hashtag when American actress, producer, singer and author Alyssa Milano began using it to tweet about the Harvey Weinstein sexual abuse allegations.
The hashtag quickly developed into an international movement. Now, Miss Moneypenny actor Naomie Harris disclosed her #MeToo incident where a "huge star" put his hand up her skirt while reading for a part.
"What was so shocking about it was the casting director was there and the director", the Londoner explained.
"Of course, no one said anything because he was — he is — such a huge star. That was my only #MeToo incident, so I felt very lucky given how rife that behaviour was.
"Now things have definitely changed. I was on a project where there was a #MeToo incident, and there was no hesitation — [the perpetrator] was immediately removed".
The man who sexually assaulted Naomie remains a mystery.
