Estate with links to James Bond for sale
A historic Dorset estate owned by the family which inspired James Bond has been put up for sale.
The Moigne Combe Estate was once owned by the Bonds. The Elizabethan spy, John Bond, was said to have inspired Ian Fleming's 007.
The estate comes with a ten-bedroom mansion, set in woodland, with a lake, a pair of let semi-detached three-bedroom cottages, with the opportunity to purchase another six, and a 31-acre productive livestock farm with a four-bedroom farmhouse.
The mansion was built by the Bonds in the early 20th century. Savills, which is marketing the property said:
"The house itself has many fine attributes such as a double-height reception hall, a galleried landing and a formal dining room".
There is also a library, drawing room and a separate kitchen wing with a scullery, butlers’ pantry, cellar, and domestic staff rooms.
The Bond family were also the occupants of Tyneham House in Dorset’s now famous ‘ghost village’, from 1683 until its evacuation by the Army in December 1943.
So, dig deep and look down the back of your sofa for the £3.5m it will take to purchase.
