Knicker jokes: a consonant bane of Sir Tom Jones's life

Carol Vorderman has revealed that Sir Tom Jones's manager warned her not to mention the infamous knicker-throwing when introducing the star.

Countdown star Carol was hosting a charity event at the Royal Albert Hall in aid of Breast Cancer Care.

During rehearsals, Carol was racking her brain, trying to come up with funny introduction links, when she said:

"Right, girls. It's time to throw your knickers on the stage", before introducing the Welshman.

"Tom went off, and his manager came up to me and said: 'I've got a serious note to give you for the performance this evening. As a performer, we feel Tom's moved past the knicker stage in his career. I don't want you to mention that when you introduce him this evening', Carol recalled.

So there you have it. Don't mention knickers if you're ever in the company of Sir Tom or might get his in a twist.
